Jennifer Fong, a second generation Chinese-American woman, is lead on a journey to uncover the legacy of the Black Tiger's Gift, that have been in her family for three generations. In this debut issue, Jenn's father is killed, passing the Black Tiger's Gift to her venal, young brother Eric, who uses the super martial arts powers to usurp leadership of the Red Dragon Triad Society. Meanwhile, Jenn begins to piece together the connection between he father's death and the disappearance of the Black Tiger.
