Staff Picks (November): Mega Man Mastermix

The Blue Bomber is reappearing on comic shelves in Manga style this winter with the debut of Mega Man Mastermix! Udon Entertainment is bringing expert creative talent Hitoshi Ariga’s work on Mega Man to life with a colored edition of the previously released Megamix and Gigamix series.

Mega Man is a classic videogame series with a devoted fan base, and Mastermix is sure to scratch the itch for those wanting more. Combining Megamix and Gigamix into one series and presenting it in the traditional, enlarged comic format, there is plenty to be excited about for the diehard fans and those looking to learn about the franchise.

One of my favorite aspects of the Mega Man franchise is the amazing design for each of Dr. Wily’s Robot Masters. In Mastermix, Hitoshi Ariga gives all the Robot Masters fantastic new looks that respect the original design, but makes them much more intimidating than what we’ve seen in the past. It’s a nice nod to the original games in the franchise while modernizing the characters.

With 80 pages of beautifully colored Mega Man goodness, it’s worth checking out if you have played any of the games in the past. Mega Man is a likeable hero worth rooting for, and you can witness more of his adventures in January!
