Staff Picks (November): Voltron Legendary Defender Volume 2 — The Pilgrimage
Oct 22, 2017
The new Voltron series on Netflix has really hit its stride with two seasons under its belt. As a fan of the original I was hyped to see Voltron starting to get some of the attention my other childhood shows like Transformers and GI Joe have already enjoyed.
The new show did a good job finding a balance between action and world building. They introduced us to the team and we got a chance to see them learn to trust each other. The end reward being a team that could pilot their lions, merge into a giant robot, and slice bad guys with a gigantic sword while flying around in space.
The comic series by Lion Forge Comics feels like a natural extension from the Netflix show from the artwork on the page to the writing and that is due in no small part to writers Tim Hedrick and Mitch Iverson. Tim and Mitch are writers for the show and through their combined work the voices for each character feel exactly the same in the comic as they do in the TV show creating a seamless transition from screen to print.
If you’re a fan of the new TV series or the original be sure to check out this Voltron Legendary Defender Volume 1 (NOV161677) and volume 2, The Pilgrimage, coming to comic shops in January 2018 from Lion Forge Comics.
