Staff Picks (June): Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Card Game

Bryan Lee O’Malley latched onto something that a lot of people can relate to in his graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim from Oni Press. Titular character Scott Pilgrim is struggling with a lot of issues that everyone comes face to face with when their childhood comes to a screeching halt and the responsibilities of adulthood take center stage. Scott struggles with his love life, financial security, and there might be a league of his new girlfriend Ramona Flowers’ ex-boyfriends hunting him for a showdown to the death now that he is dating his new love.

The graphic novel became a massive success for O’Malley. A movie directed by Edgar Wright (Shawn of the Dead) and starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead hit the silver screen in 2010 which has now become a cult classic. Also in 2010, a Scott Pilgrim beat-em-up videogame hit Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. Now we have a new exciting entry into the Scott Pilgrim universe.

Renegade Games and Oni Press are working closely together with creator Bryan Lee O’Malley to design a deck building card game allowing us players the chance to take over the roles of key characters from the popular graphic novel.
