The Legend of Zelda is one of the most memorable videogame franchises in history. The series launched in America on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in in the 1980s and has been one of Nintendo’s best sellers since the series began, with nearly every game receiving a manga edition crafted by Akira Himekawa.

Legend of Zelda: Four Swords the game is notable as it offered players the first multiplayer Zelda experience. Originally published as an additional title on the Link to the Past cartridge for Gameboy Advance, the game has players battling Vaati. The villain had previously been sealed away in a weapon called the Four Sword before he had broken free of his bonds and absconded with Princess Zelda forcing the players to take up the Four Sword and give pursuit. The Four Sword when drawn splits Link into 4 different versions of himself allowing up to 4 players to enjoy the game and battle their way to the Wizard to rescue the Princess. A sequel was also released on the Nintendo GameCube called Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.

Originally published by Viz in 2012 (Volume 1: DEC128233) and 2013 (Volume 2: APR138005), the two volumes of Legend of Zelda: Four Swords are getting the Legendary Edition treatment already received by fan favorites Ocarina of Time (SEP162089), Majora’s Mask, and A Link to the Past (JAN172160). Unlike Ocarina and Majora’s Mask, Four Swords focused mostly on multiplayer action over story, allowing Himekawa an opportunity to expand on the story and Zelda lore.

Be sure to pick up The Legend of Zelda Legendary Edition Volume 5: Four Swords this July to pick up a piece of the Hyrule’s history.
