Indie Edge: Joe Casey

Please tell us a bit about yourself!

I've been writing comics professionally for twenty years, having written for practically every publisher and I did time on most of the big corporate franchises like Superman and the X-Men and the Avengers. I'm a partner in Man of Action Entertainment, creators of Ben 10 and Generator Rex for Cartoon Network. I wrote and produced the feature film adaptation of my Image Comics graphic novel, Officer Downe. I love sunny days and the smell of fresh-cut grass.

What are your favorite projects you’ve contributed to over the past decade?

That'd be some list. The past decade has been quite a ride! Off the top of my head... Godland , Butcher Baker The Righteous Maker, The Bounce, Officer Downe, Valhalla Mad, Nixon's Pals, Sex... all creator-owned work done at Image Comics.

What are you currently working on?

Accell, Incidentals and Kino for Lion Forge; Sex, New Lieutenants of Metal and All-America Comix for Image Comics… and other comics I can't talk about yet. Not to mention a whole lotta cartoons, like the new Ben 10 series debuting this spring on Cartoon Network!

What fun titles are you reading?

I tend to buy older comics to get my four-color fix. Right now I'm diving into the various works of writer, Arnold Drake. In terms of modern comics, there's nothing more fun than Copra by Michel Fiffe. The Island anthology — published by Image Comics — always has some good stuff in it, too.
