The thing about wombats is, they’re all engineers. That sort of culture springs naturally from generations of tunneling, burrowing, and learning how to identify a load-bearing column before it’s too late.
It also explains why wombats don’t generally hold with gods. Not only do gods frequently show contempt for the sound principals of physics, the ones you tend to find buried deep are bad business. Sensible wombats everywhere have no truck with that kind of thing. Those kinds of gods were put down in the earth for a reason, and if it takes re-routing an entire aquifer system to avoid it, then that's just how it goes.
Which is why Digger, separated from her home by a pocket of bad air and the warping properties of a forbidden burial ground, can’t leave the mess she’s found. Armed only with her pick axe she and the friends she’s made on the surface race against time to stop the revival of the sort of god that should stay dead and gone.
Digger is a Hugo award-winning title and clearly the rational choice for a great read!f
