In the year 2225 A.D., the solar system is awash in a sea of plasma and cosmic rays as a result of the Gedoult Phenomenon, an unusual solar flare that occurred in 2137. Now, a nebulous Gedoult sea poses as a navigational hazard for unwary space travelers. Despite such danger, mankind has established outposts in the outer rim of the solar system. Seeking to become a space navigator, 16-year-old Aiba Kouzi, along with his younger brother Yuki and childhood friend Housen Aoi, sign on with the training vessel, Lieb Delta, for hands on experience in their prospective fields. But, their experience and training couldn't possibly have prepared them for what Kouzi and his fellow students soon discover hidden within the Lieb Delta: the immense starship, the Ryvius!
