After Musashi single-handedly takes on the Yoshioka School, Gion Toji, one of the schools strongest fighters, is out for revenge. Meanwhile, Mushashi and his wild young disciple set out for Nara to face the challenges presented by the ferocious spear technique of the monks of Hozoin Temple. All the while, Musashi is struggling between his growing feelings of love for Otsu and his devotion to the way of the sword.
