It's a celebration!
This month, Heavy Metal turns 300! Over here on PREVIEWSworld.com, we are doing our party to give issue 300 the red carpet treatment. But, understandably, we are not alone.
The Art of Comics podcast has unearthed the very hard to find/very expensive Heavy Metal #1 from 1977. For those without the funds to afford such a milestone in comics publishing, they are giving their audience a "walkthrough" of issues 1-4. Take a look above and below to experience comics history.

What was it like to open Heavy Metal #1, this weird spaceship of European comics art that had landed next to National Lampoon on newsstands? What did you see, flipping through, and what might have been your reactions or curiosities? Well, the Art of Comics podcast/vlog has replicated that experience to some extent with a series of videos. Regular host Andres Salazar (@andysalazar on Twitter) is joined by Ariel Celestino (@mecha9ine on IG); both are comics auteurs and have a keen appreciation for the medium and its history. In the episodes below, they simply go through early issues and offer their insight and reactions to the storytelling inside. Simple — but deeply satisfying if you grew up with Heavy Metal (or wish you did).
