BOOM! Studios Reveals Surprise Release of New Buffy Series

Fans of BOOM! Studios' Buffy The Vampire Slayer series are in for a surprise. 

Coming next week to comic shops is Angel #0, the beginning of a brand new, previously unannounced comic book series about Angel, the love interest of the vampire slayer, but a vampire himself. 

Angel #0 will arrive at comic shops April 17 from the creative team of writer Bryan Edward Hill and artist Gleb Melnikov.

BOOM! Studios' surprise release of the new series was done to create excitement around local comic book shops, BOOM!'s Vice President of Marketing Arune Singh said. 

"In an increasingly digital world, it’s harder than ever to create true surprises at a brick & mortar level," he told Newsarama.com. "It’s even more imperative that we create that excitement at comic book stores because they’re the lifeblood of this industry..."
