New "Ghostbusters" Film Eyes 2020 Release

When there's a new installment planned for one of pop culture's most successful franchises, there's only one question to be asked:

Who ya gonna call?

That's right, a new Ghostbusters film is in the works, with a familiar name attached to the project.

Jason Reitman, the son of the original 1984 film's director, Ivan, will direct and co-write the upcoming film, Entertainment Weekly exclusively reported.

The film will be set in the same universe as the 1984 pop culture phenomenon. Sony Pictures is eyeing a Summer 2020 release date.

No announcements have been made about the plot, cast or whether the original actors, such as Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, or Bill Murray, will return.
