Aquaman #41

The next big story arc for the King of the Sea starts in Aquaman #41 (AUG180475), in which "Drowned Earth" shows how Arthur has been imprisoned by Black Manta. The ramifications for such imprisoment? Well, the citizens of Earth have had it better, to say the least. Much better. In fact, it's safe to say that with Arthur tied up the planet has gone to Hell. Who's left holding the bag? Aquaman: The Search For Mera Deluxe Edition HC

Time for a history lesson, folks. You know Aquaman has been in comic books since they used to be bought for 12¢ each, but how well versed are you in Aquaman history? Every era has its favorite storylines. For Superman, some collectors like to call out when he changed his traditional suit for lighting white and blue duds. When it comes to Aquamn, many fans like to call out the work of writer Steve Skeates and artist Jim Aparo, particularly when they began their acclaimed run on Aquaman which spawned an epic tale of Mera's disappearance and Arthur's quest to to get her back. For those of you who dont' have a lot of luck at the back issue bins to complete this run of books, check out the Aquaman: The Search For Mera Deluxe Edition HC (AUG180586) which collects the Silver Age issues of Aquaman #40-48. Originally published in 1968, this story line pits the King against a politician named Narkran and his archnemesis Black Manta. Check it out in August's DC PREVIEWS!

Aquaman Movie Gallery: Aquaman PVC Figure

Nothing beats the classics. True. For many of us, the clean-cut Aquaman in the bright orange and green spandex is the classic image of the character that will never go out of style. Aquaman Movie: Aquaman Vinimate

Well, if it's a Diamond Select Toys release, you know it's going to be on everyone's wish list come the holidays. That's a given. We don't expect this to change, either, once toy collectors get a look at the Aquaman Movie: Aquaman Vinimate (AUG182575). This particular DC collectible is bound to take the ocean by storm (pun intended). It's a 4-inch vinyl figure that highlights the majesty of the King of Seas himself, whose job it is to claim the throne of Atlantis so as to prevent the undersea world from clashing with the surface dwellers. This Vinimate comes with a signature blockish style, striking a dynamic poses inspired by the film. Aquaman, Black Manta and Ocean Master comprise the first figures released for a first wave of Vinimates based on the Aquaman film. Each of the Vinimates are in scale to all other DC Vinimates. Put this figure on your wish list, and look for it in the Diamond Select Toys section of the August PREVIEWS catalog!
