Hake’s Auction #222 Now Open For Bidding

The weather may be cooling down, but things are definitely heating up at Hake’s Americana & Collectibles. The auction house, which is celebrating their 50th year in the industry, has opened their last auction of 2017. Auction #222 went online Tuesday, October 24, 2017 and will close on November 14-16.
The auction comprises over 2,400 lots in 200 collecting categories. Within the sale, collectors will find historical and political memorabilia, baseball items, comic books, original art, Disneyana, concert posters, carded action figures, toy kits, horror items, signed pieces, and much more.
Highlights amid the historical memorabilia are a Stephen Douglas 1860 portrait flag, “Americanize America Vote for Cox and Roosevelt” button, and Homestead Grays of 1930 real photo postcard depicting several Hall of Famers. Comic collectors will find Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 7.5 (first Spider-Man) and Jack Kirby original art from Incredible Hulk #3 and Strange Tales #109.
Disney is represented by a Walt and Lillian Disney signed 1961 Guide to Disneyland program and rare Mickey Minnie Mouse Driving Donald Duck boxed celluloid wind-up, among many other pieces. Concert posters advertising shows with Rosemary Clooney, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, and Fats Domino are within the sale.
Auction #222 will feature the highly anticipated first installment from the Star Wars Collection of Russell Branton. One of the best pieces offered is the Obi-Wan Kenobi double telescoping 12-back carded figure AFA 80NM, a very rare piece from the 1978 toy line. The series’ heroic twins are present with the Luke Skywalker (yellow hair) 12-back figure AFA 95 Mint and Leia Organa (in Bespin gown) 31-back figure AFA 80 NM. Two other notable lots will be the Anakin Skywalker Power of the Force painted Dynacast hardcopy prototype figure and the Empire Strikes Back Imperial Forces three-pack series 1 set of Bossk, IG-88, and Stormtrooper AFA 75 EX+/NM.
