HALO Heroclix 10th Anniversary is a forty-five figure set offered in booster packs with five figures per booster. The boosters will have a mixture of commons and uncommons with the occasional replacement of a rare or super rare figure. Featuring dynamic sculpts and all of the intense action we’ve come to expect from Heroclix, HALO Heroclix 10th Anniversary includes all of your favorites, from Master Chief and Cortana, to the Prophet of Regret and the Covenant!
One of the great aspects of this set is the ability to become your favorite faction from the HALO line, the forces of humanity with the United Nations Space Command or the alien forces of the Covenant. There are even some Flood figures to add to offer that horrifying twist to your team. Team abilities that are given for the Covenant and the USNC are solid and really call to the flavor of the HALO videogames.
The UNSC has a great representation with Marines, ODST, Spartans, and even some named figures that you will love (Master Chief jumping from a wall is just so cool). There are some figures with weapon swaps that are now carrying Covenant weaponry instead of their standard kit. All in all, the forces of the UNSC look great and do a good job of offering a taste of what you can do in the HALO videogames as well as being a strong showing in the Heroclix game.
The Covenant comes right back with a nice variety of Grunts, Drones, Elite Zealots, Brutes, Honor Guard, and more. Some of the Covenant troops come cloaked offering a great special power action to go along with their brutal weaponry. The gang at Wizkids/NECA has done a great job with the Covenant and players will be very excited to see what kinds of teams they can make.
With Infected Marines and Elites as well as Flood Carriers and Infection, you even have the ability to create a Flood team all on its own. While they would be somewhat limited, the Flood’s real value comes to the fore when using their special attack abilities. While Ido not want to go into specifics here, let’s just say “the more the merrier” is definitely one of the Flood’s favorite sayings.
Alongside these amazing figures we also have a new game mechanic that is sure to knock you, and your opponents, of your feet. This first comes to you as your Grenade Pool. Your Grenade Pool is simply the number of grenades your army has for the game and you get them by adding up the grenade pool additions your characters in your army have. For example, if you have five characters in your army, one with Grenade Pool +2 and two with Grenade Pool +1, then you have a Grenade Pool of four.
The “Throw a Grenade” trait allows you to make a power action for the character with the trait, decreasing the number of grenades from your grenade pool by 1 (if greater than 0), and choosing a grenade listed on the character’s card. Choose a target square within a certain distance of squares and line of fire. Make a ranged combat attack targeting all characters occupying or adjacent to the target square. Deal damage and effects to each character hit based on the type of grenade chosen. With grenades like Plasma, Thermite, Frag, and others, you can see that these are going to add a fantastic element to gameplay. Also, since your grenade pool is limited, you must really make hard choices about when, where, and who will throw a grenade during your turn. This adds a new wrinkle in tactics and planning that Heroclix players will deeply appreciate.
This 45-figure set introduces HALO to the larger Heroclix universe in full force. And because HALO is 100% Heroclix compatible, it can be played within the larger Heroclix universe! Overall, the HALO Heroclix 10th Anniversary booster packs have a lot to offer folks who are fans of Heroclix, who enjoy HALO, and especially those who love both.
