Zenescope Entertainment has announced plans to release a brand new ongoing comic book series entitled FLY.  The upcoming series is written by Raven Gregory (The Waking, Return To Wonderland) with interior art by artist, Eric J., co-creator of Rex Mundi.

flycoverThe story follows three teenagers who gain access to a designer drug which gives them the power to fly.  The drug seems too good to be true, and eventually one of the teens starts to realize that it just might be.  Now years later, Eddie is on the run from his past and he desperately needs to figure out a way to help his former girlfriend kick the habit before it kills them both.

“This is a very personal story for me” says writer/creator Raven Gregory.  “Addiction is something that has affected my life in different ways for many years, and writing this story was the perfect outlet for my battle against the disease.  I’m so proud of this story and I’m thankful that Zenescope had the balls to publish it.”

Further elaborating on the story, Mr. Gregory answered a few questions about the upcoming comic.

PREVIEWSworld (PW): Will this new title cross over with the history of other titles in the Zenescope universe?

Raven Gregory (RG): No.  FLY will be a stand-alone series like my other creator owned books, but you might see a couple of familiar faces later on in the series.  A couple of Easter eggs for fans of the Wonderland series that I just had to throw in there.

Fly-#1-Artgerm-Cover_smallPREVIEWSworld (PW): What kind of car wreck on the highway is shown in the initial story arc that will have people rubber necking, and wanting to follow this series?

Raven Gregory (RG): The series does start off with quite a big bang.  There's a drug that gives people the power to fly, and our main character Eddie is on the run from something pretty horrible from his past.  It's this past that is coming back to bite him in a very major way.

PREVIEWSworld (PW): What kind of personal ambitions (or lack thereof) drives the main characters?

Raven Gregory (RG): For Eddie, there's a lot of guilt there.  He's made some bad choices.  Some things that really haunt him and have made him the character that he is when we meet him for the first time.  As the series progresses we get to see those choices and reveal how things have ended up the way they do.

PREVIEWSworld (PW): Are there any special social media campaigns that you’ll launch to promote this latest title? Any special event or panel planned for this summer?

Raven Gregory (RG): We'll be debuting a trailer for the series next week as well as advance previews.  There have been a ton of advance reviews that have just been amazing so far.  I'm really glad people are getting the story.

PREVIEWSworld (PW): Are there plans for future teasers to be released on any specific days?

Raven Gregory (RG): We'll be revealing the Amanda Conner and Darick Robertson covers near the end of the month which is pretty big for me as I have loved their work for years and it was truly a blessing to have them grace the covers of the series.  David Mack will also be doing a cover later on which is a dream come true for me as I've been wanting for work with him on something since I got into this business.

PREVIEWSworld (PW): How does FLY tie into the Zenescope culture? Do you see this new series offering something different for the taste buds?

Raven Gregory (RG): It definitely is something that Zenescope fans will dig but at the same time it's the kind of story that we can see expanding our fan-base for those who enjoy the superhero genre but with a much darker slant than is the norm.

PREVIEWSworld (PW): How will FLY stand out from other Zenescope titles?

Raven Gregory (RG): It's the first time we've ever stepped into the superhero genre and from the reception we've received so far I think we're going to make a pretty big impression.
