Top 25 Toys: November 2010

Harley Quinn

Debuting in an episode of Batman: The Animated Series in the 1990s, the Joker's sidekick Harley Quinn has become one of the most recognized members of Batman's Rogues Gallery, and in November DC Direct's Cover Girls of the DCU: Harley Quinn Statue, designed by fan-favorite artist Adam Hughes and sculpted by Jack Mathews, became the best-selling Toy product to comic specialty retailers.

In total, DC Direct had six of the top ten toy products in November, including the DCU Origins Series 2 Action Figure 2-Packs at #2, the JLA Classified Series 3 figures at #4, the DC Dynamics: Superman Statue at #5, the Women of the DCU Series 3: Power Girl Bust at #6, and the Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman Bust at #10.

Also in the top ten for November was Bowen Designs with two statues — the PREVIEWS Exclusive White Queen Modern Diamond Edition Statue at #3 and the Dr. Doom Classic Statue at #9. Dark Horse Comics' Bettie Page: Girl of Our Dreams by Dave Stevens Statue, based on classic pin-up artwork by The Rocketeer's Dave Stevens, ranked #7. Rounding out the top ten was Diamond Select Toys with the Star Wars: Clone Trooper Bust Bank at #8.

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.

Data for Diamond’s sales charts — which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts — are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 accounts, comprised of comic book specialty shops and other merchant stores and buyers. The shops are primarily located in North America, with a percentage of sales also to international stores and buyers located throughout the world. The account base includes not only brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, but also Internet stores, chain stores, and other specialty stores.

Unit and retail dollar sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during any given month, which comprises initial pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable.
