Jim Mahfood taught me how to love again.  Well, not really… but I can tell you he's a damn fine artist and I'll pick up any book graced with his trademark artwork in a heartbeat! And so it was that a Mahfood cover drew my attention to The Kids of Widney High, a one-shot comic chronicling the surreal adventures of these real-life, talented musicians from Los Angeles.  If you're not aware of the KOWH, they're graduates from a special education high school in Los Angeles bound into a cult music experience by shared life experiences and a love for songwriting.  Their fans include such notable music icons as Smokey Robinson, Jackson Browne, Marilyn Manson, and The Beastie Boy's Ad-Rock. Like all rock-and-roll comics, The Kids of Widney High is escapist fantasy at its best, shifting gears from larger-than-life action with super-cops and winged heroes to poignant tales of relationships, from lyrics that challenge stereotypes and discrimination, to mad scientists out to rob the world of sound.  As contributor and Widney High alum Tony Whitfield says, this comic is "the music that will rock your eyes!"
