When I heard that Alterna Comics was planning to follow up their miniseries FUBAR: Mother Russia, I had to take a second and ponder how they planned to up the ante. In Mother Russia we saw an undead outbreak add to the horrific butchery of WWII Stalingrad. That meant that the bloodiest battle in human history had just got bloodier. Every casualty in battle now added to the total number of zombies on the ground, creating a third army in the city that was loyal to neither side of the conflict—their only desire was to mash their dead jaws on some tasty living humans. So how would they one up that?

The answer was a simple paradigm shift. In this outing, we're moving away from the mass carnage and redefining the undead as biological weapons. Hidden from the public, beyond a government veil of red tape, redacted memos, and outright lies, is the reality that the world's governments have been actively researching the means to turn the undead into a new weapon of mass destruction. A weapon which feeds on the lives of enemy troops on the ground, infecting them and continuing to spread until the enemy is completely exterminated.

FUBAR: Declassified examines the consequences of when soldiers chance upon weaponized zombies during a series of missions and the carnage that ensues as the dead come face to face with highly-trained, battle-hardened troops. Written by veteran scribe Chuck Dixon, Jeff McClelland, and Jeff McComsey, FUBAR: Declassified will hit shelves this July.
