AFTERMATH - BREAKDOWN #6
Jan 20, 2005
Devil's Due has been demonstrating they are a top-notch publisher for some
years now, producing high quality comics like G.I. Joe. But I think that
the Aftermath line is where Devil's Due is really going to make their
mark on the industry. It's tough to launch a new superhero universe in today's
market, but Devil's Due is doing it right. Right writers like Chuck Dixon, Joe
Casey, and Marv Wolfman. Right artists like Dave Ross and newcomer favorites
like Stefano Caselli, Sunder Raj, and Kalman Adrasofszky. Right promotion and
advertising to promote the entire line. And tight solid concepts for their core
books. Then I started reading the books and I was not disappointed.
This month the first two titles launched, Breakdown and Defex, conclude their first story arcs with issue #6. Breakdown has all the classic elements of a good superhero book you love combined with the best of the action movie genre. Popular public superhero has an assassination attempt made on his life. Superhero's wife and child get killed instead. Superhero goes underground and resurfaces leaner, meaner, and looking for revenge. And you won't believe who he goes to for help. If you haven't tried these titles yet, do yourself a favor and give them a shot.
