Staff Picks (July14): Butterfly #1
Jun 18, 2014
Publisher: BOOM! Studios
Spies are back, my friends. Black Widow, Velvet, Archer — secret agents are on the rise. I can’t tell you how much it thrills me to see fresh stories starring the ol’ cloak and dagger again.
Butterfly, the newest offering from BOOM, intrigues the reader with an anti-femme fatale, a lady spy with a talent for looking ordinary and inconspicuous. Even further from the expected, our authors Arash Amel (of Grace of Monaco) and Marguerite Bennet (of DC Comics’ multiple Batman storylines) introduce us to the protagonist’s infamous, supposedly-dead father. Their wonderful set up gives us spies not only with history, but with progeny.
If you thought international espionage was complicated, try adding family politics and live ammo!
