Hang around this industry long enough and you’ll find that our generation of starving artists harbors more than its fair share of foodies.  Kickstarter-funded anthology Digestate is a testament to just how fascinating and complicated our relationship with food has become, from family recipes to the ethics of slaughterhouses.

As someone with both Best American Comics and Best American Food Writing on her shelf, I can’t wait to peruse tasty contributions from indie creators like Jeffrey Brown, Marc Bell, Alex Robinson, Noah Van Sciver, Liz Prince, and Renee French, not to mention 50 other talented creators, curated by editor J.T. Yost.  Be sure to preorder this collection through your local shop.  Food hasn’t packed this kind of visual punch since the iconicCampbell’s label hit shelves.
