Nearly 400 CGC-certified comic books are offered in Hake’s Auction #233. Among those books ready for new homes are many of Marvel’s biggest keys, including numerous titles with multiple copies in different grades.

Spider-Man/Peter Parker makes his debut in Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 2.0 Signature Series Stan Lee, along with the first appearances of Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Lee’s signature, which he did on July 23, 2011, pops in the center of the front cover in black pen over the tan art. The biggest key of the Silver Age, it was written by Lee with a cover by Jack Kirby and art by Steve Ditko.

Hake’s has two copies of Fantastic Four #1 CGC 6.0 and 5.0, which houses the origin and first appearance of Marvel’s first superhero team, the Fantastic Four, and the origin and first appearances of Mole Man. Lee provided the story for this major key and Kirby did the cover and art.

X-Men #1 CGC 6.5, 6.0, and 1.8 is stacked with the origins and first appearances of X-Men team members Professor X, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Angel, and Beast, and longtime villain Magneto. This is another team-up of Lee on the story and Kirby on the cover and art.

Iron Man/Tony Stark sees his first appearance and origin in Tales of Suspense #39 CGC 7.0 and 5.5. With Lee and Larry Lieber stories, it has a cover by Kirby and Don Heck, and additional art by Ditko and Gene Colan.

Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 3.0 and 2.0 provides the debut and origin of the Hulk, as well as the first appearance of Betty Ross, Rick Jones, and General Ross. It features a story by Lee, cover and art by Kirby, and additional art by Paul Reinman.

The next generation of X-Men make their debut in Giant-Size X-Men #1 CGC 9.6, 9.0, and 5.5R. This key introduces Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Thunderbird, plus Wolverine’s second appearance. It was written by Len Wein with art by Dave Cockrum and a cover by Cockrum and Gil Kane.

Daredevil #1 CGC 7.0 and 4.0 gives the origin and first appearance of Daredevil/Matt Murdock, along with the introductions of Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. It’s another Lee story with art by Bill Everett and cover by Kirby and Everett.

Thor/Doctor Donald Blake has his first appearance and origin in Journey Into Mystery #83 CGC 4.5. Written by Lee, it has a cover and art by Kirby and additional art by Ditko.

Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 9.2, 9.0, 8.5 Signature Series Stan Lee, and 5.0, houses the first full appearance of Wolverine and an appearance by Wendigo. This Bronze Age key was written by Len Wein with Herb Trimpe cover and art and additional art by Jack Abel.
