The first ComicLink Featured Auction of 2018 begins on Thursday night, February 15, 2018. “ComicLink Featured Auctions are known for offering the best in vintage comic books and comic related and fantasy artwork. In this auction you’ll find everything from high-end examples of Action Comics #1 and Amazing Fantasy #15 to a dynamic Jim Lee and Scott Williams Batman ‘Hush’ cover and a Boris Vallejo Savage Sword of Conan oil painting cover,” Josh Nathanson, ComicLink’s founder and CEO said.

The aforementioned Action Comics #1 (first Superman) is certified at CGC 7.0 (conserved) and the high end Amazing Fantasy #15 (first Spider-Man) is a CGC 9.0 (CVA), plus there are several other examples of #15 in various grades. A few of the other major comic book highlights in the auction include Detective Comics #31 (third Batman cover) CGC 5.0, Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 8.0, #14 (first Green Goblin) CGC 9.6, and #129 (first Punisher) CGC 9.8, Batman #1 (first Joker and first Catwoman) CGC 5.0 Conserved, Showcase #22 (first Silver Age Green Lantern) CGC 8.5, Incredible Hulk #1 (first Hulk) CGC 7.5, Daredevil #1 (first Daredevil) CBCS 9.6, Fantastic Four #1 CGC 8.0, Tales of Suspense #39 (first Iron Man) CGC 9.0, Brave and the Bold #28 (first Justice League) CGC 8.0, Superman’s Girlfriend Lois Lane #1 CGC 8.5 (single highest graded), Action Comics #242 (first Brainiac) CGC 8.0, Captain Marvel Adventures #1 CBCS 2.0, Marvel Super-Heroes #18 (first Guardians of the Galaxy) CGC 9.8 (highest, one of two), and Giant-Size X-Men #1 (first “New” X-Men, second full Wolverine) CGC 9.8.

The auction also includes top tier original art by many popular artists including such highlights as Jim Lee’s epic cover for Batman #618, the penultimate issue of “Hush” featuring the stunning image of Batman pursued by the rotting corpse of the newly returned Jason Todd, while Hush looms behind; Boris Vallejo’s painted cover for Savage Sword of Conan #4; a Frank Frazetta illustration of John Carter, Warlord of Mars from the Doubleday book series; Jack Kirby’s cover for Black Panther #12; John Buscema’s cover for Thor #192; a Robert Crumb Mr. Natural Strip for the Village Voice from 1976; a superb Todd McFarlane splash from Spider-Man #12; and two Jim Starlin pages from the epic finale of the “Thanos Saga” in Marvel Two-in-One Annual #2 including the page where Thor and the Thing finally bring down Thanos.

There will be an important John Byrne/Terry Austin page from Uncanny X-Men #142, part 2 of the legendary “Days of Future Past” saga, where Mystique strongly hints she’s Nightcrawler’s mother for the first time; Frank Miller’s Daredevil #190 title splash for “Ressurection!”, the historic rebirth of Elektra; Bill Sienkiewicz’s stunning Elektra painting from the cover of The Comics Journal #107; Kelley Jones’ Batman #532 cover featuring Batman and Deadman battling mummies; Mike Parobeck’sBatman Adventures #28 cover featuring Harley Quinn; Jim Lee’s Gen 13 #7 cover featuring the one of only two Lee/Williams covers for the popular ’90s series; Mike Ploog’s Giant-Size Man-Thing #1 cover featuring Man-Thing vs. the Glob; and a John Romita published “Spider-Man Friends and Foes” double page splash pin-up featuring an almost every Spidey character.
