“We’re seeing it more and more as copies of Action Comics #1 either disappear from the market or are simply priced too high for even some of my well-heeled clients, investment collectors are jumping on Superman #1 in record numbers,” Vincent Zurzolo, ComicConnect COO said.

ComicConnect auctioned four copies in their recent Event Auction. A Superman #1 CGC 1.0 sold for $110,000 while a CGC 8.0 with moderate professional restoration went for $150,555, a CGC 7.0 with moderate to extensive restoration sold for $67,000, and a coverless copy hammered at $14,200. “I keep thinking, these numbers are crazy,” Zurzolo continued. “But, this is the reality of today’s market and these are the prices the scarcity of the comic is demanding.”
