Still Time To Enter Harry Moon's Good Mischief Contest
Sep 07, 2017
It might be twelve noon on Saturday, September 16, 2017, but a moon will rise over the small town of Paxton, Illinois. On Harry Moon’s Good Mischief Day in Paxton, eleven-year-old Superfan, Caiden Riecks, will announce the one hundred finalists of the international Good Mischief Contest.
The best-selling Harry Moon series describes Good Mischief as a ‘kindness that surprises’. Paxton Mayor Bill Ingold said, “Across America, in small towns like Paxton, we thrive because of the love and care of community. Kindness is the glue that connects us. We are delighted to be part of Harry Moon’s pledge to encourage kindness across the world.”
The Good Mischief entrants are eight to twelve-year-old fans of the Harry Moon and Honey Moon middle-grade books. The contestant submits his or her idea of “a kindness that surprises” to the contest's website. The hundred finalists will each receive a Harry Moon magician’s costume, an autographed copy of the new Harry Moon Book, Wand-Paper-Scissors (Origin) by Mark Andrew Poe, and a Good Mischief Medal. The one hundred finalists will be announced by Caiden Riecks at the Paxton Fire Department.
“We are happy to be celebrating Good Mischief,” says Alan Meyer, a Paxton citizen and fireman in Paxton. “With all the challenges in the world, it’s a beautiful thing to shine a light on the kindness that binds all of us together.”
The streets of Paxton will stream with banners from Harry Moon’s most famous sayings including “Be Good. Do Good” and “Do No Evil”. The IGA bakery will carry Harry Moon Desert Pies while Monical’s Pizza will serve Harry Moon Pizza pies. There will be an unveiling by the Paxton Fire Fighters of the Good Mischief Billboard in Paxton.
Harry Moon author, Mark Andrew Poe, will be on hand for signings of Wand-Paper-Scissors and his latest book, Halloween Nightmares. Poe and the Good Mischief Captain, Caiden Riecks, will pop corn together at the Mom and Pop Kettle Korn Stop. All activities will occur at Paxton’s sixth annual BBQ cook-off and festival, The Swine and Dine. Bands including Natu, Devin Clemons Band, and Nashville recording artists, Walker McGuire, will provide entertainment for the event. For more information about the festival, go to the event's website.
Harry Moon’s Chicago-based Rabbit Publisher will be giving away one hundred Harry Moon and Honey Moon books as well as other prizes including Harry Moon Magician’s capes and “Do No Evil” backpacks.
“We want Paxton to become a place where heroes come from,” said fireman Meyer. “A real hero loves and cares for others. It’s as simple as that.”
There is still time to join the Good Mischief Contest. Entries are being accepted until 12 midnight PDT on September 14, 2017 on the publisher’s website at harrymoon.com.
