Phil Lord and Chris Miller are being replaced on the directors chair for the new Han Solo spin-off film by Ron Howard, as announced by The Hollywood Reporter. Lord and Miller were let go from the project for creative differences over style and tone with the film already three-quarters through principal photography. Filming is set to resume on July 10th with Howard now at the helm.

“At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie.”

The untitled Han Solo film is still set for release on May 25th, 2018.
