The Strain: Mr. Quinlan — Vampire Hunter TP

What's a freak of nature supposed to do when he rejects his very existence? Does the abomination retreat to a cave, shun the light, and learn to survive on eating insects? Does it reject the outside world, and remain in isolation? Or does it give into its anger and seek vengeance against those who spurned it? Yeah, the latter sounds like so much more fun, doesn't it? Writer David Lapham and artist Edgar Salazar thought it was a better idea, too, which is why the made that plot into a mini-series for Dark Horse Comics. Now that story has been collected in The Strain: Mr. Quinlan — Vampire Hunter TP (JAN170117), collecting all five issues showing the "mistake" surviving in gladiatorial times to take out the monster that sired him Look for it in the Premier Comics section of the January PREVIEWS catalog!

Demonic TP

Years ago, Robert Kirkman came up with an idea that soon became a one-short comic published by Top Cow. The book fit into a promotion that was called "Pilot Season," and Kirkman's book was called Demonic. For those of you who remembered reading Quinn and Vigil's Faust from the 90s, the cover alone was enough to make you pick up the book. Who doesn't want to read about some guy who runs around with ginsu knives because he wants to do Wolverine one better? Well, the book actually has nothing to do with Quinn and Vigil's Faust, or the feral Canadian, but it does portray Detective Scott Graves as a vigilante who sold his soul to the devil. See what horror writer Christopher Sebela and artist Niko Walter cook up in this new series that now has its first six issues collected in the Demonic TP (JAN170799) from Image Comics. Look for it in the January edition of the PREVIEWS comic shop catalog!

Anno Dracula #1

Kate Reed is a vampire journalist and free-thinker. When's the last time you heard that on someone's resumé? Since when did those two credentials go hand-in-hand you ask? Wait. It gets better. Did you further know that she currently holds a seat on the revolutionary Council of Seven Days? No? It's an anarchist group that operates cloak-and-dagger style (which is why you probably haven't heard about it). This group is currently the only resistence in place to keep Dracula's secret police in check. In Anno Dracula #1 (JAN171977) from writer Kim Newman and artist Paul McCaffrey, Kate leads the fight against Drac's police (the Grey Men) but her problem is that there's a traitor in her midst. It won't be easy to bug anyone to learn the truth anytime soon. It's 1895. Electronics are a long way off, but this book is not because it hits the shops this March! You'll find it from Titan Comics in the January PREVIEWS catalog!
