Love is what makes the world go round, and there's plenty of it to be found in comics. We've collected ten comic book romances that show there's someone for everyone in comics. So whether you love superheroes, sci-fi, comedy, or horror, there's always something to love in comics.   

Presented in no particular order, these ten comic book romances prove that in comics, love will find a way.

 Alana and Marko

The award winning Image Comics series Saga (SEP140591) follows the story of Hazel, and her fugitive parents whose planets are on opposite sides of an intergalactic war. Alana and Marko risk everything to raise their daughter in peace, while fighting for their lives and fighting with each other. Regardless of the sci-fi setting of Saga, this couple is as real to life as it gets and showcases the ups and downs of a real relationship.

 Joker and Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn has been head over heels for the Joker since her debut on Batman: The Animated Series over twenty years ago. Being in love with the Joker isn’t an easy job, and Harley has taken her share of knocks from her ‘Puddin’ over the years, but no matter what she always comes back to her true love. Despite all of his faults, and those times he tried to kill her, Harley will forever be the Joker’s number one gal.

 Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson

“Face it tiger, you’ve hit the jackpot!” With one iconic line Mary Jane Watson stole Peter Parker’s heart and the Amazing Spider-Man was never the same. After losing his first love to the Green Goblin’s sinister plot, Gwen Stacy, Peter fell in love with the girl next door and one of comic’s most quintessential romances was born. Despite their ups and downs, and a few storyline reboots, Peter and Mary Jane remain one of the most popular couples in comics.

 Superman and Wonder Woman

Love is a battlefield, and no comic book couple knows that more than Superman and Wonder Woman. While their romance in the main DC Comics timeline is recent, creators have been pairing these characters in some of the most well-known alternate reality tales such as Kingdom Come (SEP138294) and The Dark Knight (MAY150234) saga. An unstoppable duo, Superman and Wonder Woman are the true definition of a power couple.

 Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers

One of the more unconventional couples in modern comics, Scott Pilgrim (FEB108442) and Ramona Flowers are the perfect pop culture twosome. Even though they ultimately don’t end up together, Scott’s love for Ramona turns his life upside down as he faces her seven evil exes in a battle for her heart. A perfect encapsulation of post-high school life and relationships, Scott and Ramona are the perfect slacker love story.

 Reed Richards and Sue Storm

One of the longest running romances in comics has been around since the birth of Marvel Comics’ silver age. Reed Richards and Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four were married all the way back in 1965, with almost the entire Marvel universe, including a few of their villains, in attendance. Through the decades of Fantastic Four stories Reed and Sue have shown that through thick and thin, their love will last.

 Mark Grayson and Atom Eve

A superhero couple slightly off the beaten path, Mark Grayson and Atom Eve from Robert Kirkman’s long running Image Comics series Invincible (DEC078027) have seen it all. Starting out as college sweethearts, Mark and Eve have fought in wars, traveled to alternate realities, and even come close to death. Even with everything they’ve gone through, this superpowered duo is a bright spot of love in the crazy world of Invincible.

 Jesse Custer and Tulip O'Hare

Romance may not be the first thing you think of in Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s DC Comics series Preacher (FEB090260), but Jesse Custer and Tulip O’Hare will prove that no matter what may be going on around you there’s always a place for romance. Tulip and Jesse are true soulmates, whether it’s dealing with family or fighting against a vampire, their love prevails.

 Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, and Veronica Lodge

For over seventy years Archie Comics has been a cornerstone of comic book romance with the long running love triangle of Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, and Veronica Lodge. Archie harbors feelings for both girls and consistently flirts with girl-next-door Betty and the stylish socialite Veronica. These three have been everything from couples to close friends and confidants, this comic book trio has set the standard for romances.

 Jessica Jones and Luke Cage

One of the more recent couples in Marvel Comics, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage had an unusual romance from the start. They were first introduced to each other in Alias, Jessica’s debut series and kicked off a tumultuous relationship that eventually resulted in the birth of their daughter Danielle. These two powerful heroes have since gotten married and worked together as Avengers in one of the wildest love stories of the Marvel universe.
