From The Archives Month: Comic Strip Collections For Everyone

Newspaper comic strips helped to create the comic book as we know it today, and it was the earliest collections of the popular daily strips of the era that served as a springboard for the stories of adventure, mystery, and super-heroics that followed. And today, even in a world filled with monthly comic books, trade paperbacks, and hardcover collections of comic book material, the newspaper comic strips are still a apart of the comics landscape. And that’s no more abundantly clear than in our PREVIEWS theme for this month, “From the Archives!”
Comic strip material from the 1930s to today is still being collected, more and more each year. There have been hundreds, if not thousands of comic strips published over the years, and nostalgia for these classic serialized stories is higher than ever as fan-favorite, obscure, and even little-known strips are painstakingly cleaned up, enhanced, and collected for a whole new audience to experience once again. This month’s issue of PREVIEWS is filled with dozens of comic strip collections, and we’ve pulled out a handful here to spotlight some of the best.
