Hake’s Auction #215 Loaded With CGC Graded Comics, Superhero Items

Hake’s Americana & Collectibles Auction #215 is now online and open for bidding at www.hakes.com. The closing dates are July 14-16. Since 1967 Hake’s has been the premier auction house for pop culture artifacts and Americana of all types. Hake’s resides under the umbrella of Diamond Comic Distributors Inc. family of sister companies.

First things first, the selection of CGC graded comics this auction covers the Golden Age all the way up to Modern books and includes many key issues, first appearances and more.

Highlights include: Amazing Fantasy #15  5.0, Amazing Spider-Man #1  4.5, Incredible Hulk #1  4.0, Tales To Astonish #13 (first Groot) 5.5, All-Select Comics #1  5.0, Weird Fantasy #21 Gaines File Copy 9.8, Superman #6  7.0, and many others.

As for Superman, this auction marks the debut of items from the Franco Toscanini Collection. This is the greatest all-inclusive Superman collection to ever come to auction. Many rarely seen, and even one-of-a-kind items will be up for bid. This includes: early 1940s Fleischer Studios original art model sheets for Superman and Lois Lane, Fleischer one-sheet poster and press kit for the cartoons, movie theater standee for the 1948 serial, boxed Ideal wood/composition figure from 1940, propeller beanie from 1948, boxed Japanese “Flying Spaceman” Bandai toy from the 1950s, Captain Action boxed set from 1967, original art pieces by Joe Shuster, Fred Ray, Sheldon Moldoff, Wayne Boring, Alex Ross, Tim Sale, Curt Swan and others. In total there are over 100 Superman lots.

Other DC characters are also well represented and items include: a one-sheet poster for the 1943 Batman serial, classic 1966 Batman merchandise such as Aurora model kits, vending machine buttons, Batmobile slot car, and more. Two rare items are a 1961 Green Lantern boxed Halloween costume from the Chip Kidd collection as well as a 1967 Justice League of America Hasbro coloring set.

Not to be left out, there are plenty of items for Marvel Super Heroes. This includes: Flexi-Ring vending machine display card and full set of six rings, Spider-Man and Hulk mood rings from the 1970s, comic book & record sets from 1966 for Fantastic Four, Avengers and Thor, Mattel Secret Wars action figures from 1984, and much more.

Speaking of action figures, the auction is chock full of posable toys from many different 1980s action figure lines such as: Transformers, Master of the Universe, Thundercats, Silverhawks, G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rambo, Robocop, Ghostbusters, and others.

Sci-Fi aficionados will find something as well as we have everything from the earliest space heroes such as Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon to modern day classics like Star Trek and Star Wars. Items include Buck Rogers ray guns by Daisy from the 1930s-40s, Buck Rogers props and costumes for the 1979-1981 NBC TV series, Remco Lost In Space robots from 1966, signed Star Trek replica uniforms for Capt. Kirk (William Shatner) and Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Mego Star Trek action figures, Kenner Star Wars toys from the original trilogy, Star Wars Sideshow premium format figures and many other items that are “Out Of This World.”

Some highlights from the other 200+ collecting categories featured in this auction include: a Martin Luther King Jr. signed book, JFK signed photo, selection of file-copy Whitman Big Little Books, Walt Disney collectibles from classic 1930s items to modern day limited edition items, Frankenstein Hasbro 1963 paint set, the first national TV Guide issue with Lucy’s baby cover, Herman Munster Mattel boxed talking hand puppet from 1964, The Simpsons Movie 7-Eleven giant display of Apu, Beatles Yellow Submarine 1968 one-sheet movie poster, Jimi Hendrix 1968 concert poster and much, much more. In total there are over 2.600.
