Staff Picks (July): Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #50

As a kid growing up in the 90's, the rooftop battle between the Ninja Turtles and Shredder was one the coolest cinematic moments of my youth. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon was so silly, but the movie was anything but. The movie took the Turtles seriously and the duel on the rooftop showed the Turtles going 4-against-1 and they didn’t have enough. The good guys couldn't do it! It was mind blowing to a kid that just maybe good wasn’t going to triumph over evil.

The IDW run of TMNT is nearing its 50th issue and it's looking like we're about to have another epic confrontation between our favorite mutants and Shredder, the leader of the Foot Clan!

With Kevin Eastman having signed an exclusive contract with IDW at ECCC this year, IDW is pulling out all the stops to ensure that this final confrontation between the forces of good and evil makes just as much of a mark on this generation as the movie rooftop battle did on mine.

Be sure to pick up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #50 from IDW this September to see if the Turtles are able to beat their greatest adversary or if Shredder finally gets his chance for a taste of that turtle soup he's been craving for decades.
