Staff Picks (March): Fight Club 2 #1
Feb 18, 2015
I am Jack’s Quivering Anticipation. Dark Horse has partnered with Fight Club novelist, Chuck Palahniuk, to bring us the official sequel to one of the most awesome cult stories of the modern era. (Note: If you haven’t read the original book or seen the film, go do that before reading further. Last warning.)
I am Jack’s Enflamed Curiosity. The original Fight Club had such a riveting twist ending that even the possibility of a sequel immediately intrigues. In this second round, Marla and our original narrator, Sebastian, are married with a child. Sebastian takes medications to deal with his schizophrenia, which would make for a happy family, if Marla weren’t tampering with those medications so that she could cheat on her husband with his other personality.
I am Jack’s Insomnia-Inducing Enthusiasm. Cameron Stewart’s artwork suits the work to a T. Graceful but disheveled, Stewart manages to convey a world that is dirty, broken, and terribly human while simultaneously preserving the intensity, explosive passion, and reckless spirit that propels Tyler Durden and everything he touches. This series is going to be a gut-punching, tooth-gritting, Molotov-cocktail blend of writing-without-brakes and screamingly beautiful-but-deranged visual story telling.
I am Jack’s Obsessive Need for Consumer Goods. Pull two for my box, please.
