Spawn Hits #250

Article Image ac95One of the longest creator-owned series in comic book history, Todd McFarlane's Spawn is hitting its 250th issue. The landmark issue will feature a cover by artist Greg Capullo, who worked on the title for many years, and who McFarlane touts is the definitive Spawn artist.

But besides cover artwork that many will instantly recognize, a name is being dropped that has every fan paying attention. Al Simmons is once again back in the Spawn suit. And word around the hellfire bonfire is that Al is in complete control of the demon. To commemorate the occassion, the special one-shot Spawn Resurrection #1 is being released, featuring a story by Paul Jenkins with art by Jonboy Meyers, the creative team taking over Spawn with issue #251.

With Marvel and DC renumbering their books for a new generation, what does McFarlane think about #250 applying to his flagship book? "It makes me the highest-numbered book in the country," he explained in a previous interview with USA Today's Brian Truitt. "I see it as a badge of honor."

Further elaborating on Spawn Resurrection #1, McFarlane has said "This is your '#1' issue for all of you that need a #1. Spawn Resurrection is also going to be the first issue where new artist Jonboy Meyers and writer Paul Jenkins take over and dazzle you with their talent. Resurrection might even give a little background as to where Al Simmons has been for so long.
