Axis Aftermath Yields Uncanny Avengers #1
Oct 31, 2014
Everyone's talking about the Avengers these days, and why shouldn't they? The new movie trailer came out, re-uniting the old cast with James Spader doing the voice of the metallic monster Ultron.
And then there's the fact that Rick Remender and Daniel Acuna are on board to kick off Marvel's latest new release, Uncanny Avengers #1 (NOV140703). The planets seemed to be aligned just right, and Senior Vice President Executive Editor Tom Brevoort concurs that things are only going to get more explosive.
"It’s not so much a new title as it is a new season of an existing title," Brevoort has said. "During AXIS, we put Uncanny Avengers onto hiatus, as there’s only so much that Rick Remender could write all at once. But now, in the aftermath of AXIS, we’ll have a new team line-up with a modified mission statement and some new baggage to deal with on account of AXIS."
Uncanny Avengers, it seems, is now ready for prime time as Rick Remender was finally able to get eight hours of sleep. Armed with a new batch of coffee and energy drinks, Remender seems to have phoned in that he was ready to go Jack Bauer again, and thus Uncanny Avengers #1 is listed as Marvel's Gem of the Month in the November PREVIEWS catalog.
Breevort has added, "It’s an outgrowth of AXIS. So the fact that AXIS has now concluded was really the deciding factor to start things off with the return of a classic Marvel villain completely made over in the Remender/Acuna style." When asked for a teaser that can keep the fans at bay until Uncanny Avengers #1 hits the shops on January 7th, Brevoort concluded "What this villain is doing, and what he’s got to reveal will profoundly affect your understanding of a number of characters within the Marvel Universe. It’s a big game changer right off the bat."
