John Carpenter's Committed To The Asylum

Article Image dd1aSandy King was given the keys to the jail cells when John Carpenter's Asylum launched a new story arc with issue #9. Prior to co-creator King taking over the writing chores for this dark tale of terror, Bruce Jones had been in charge of disposing the bodies for Father Daniel Beckett. This priest, we learn, has seen demons and he's spoken to the Devil, but he can't say the same about God or his angels. It has left this man of God at odds with God, and Sandy King takes over this supernatural thriller to peel back the layers of the pain one now finds in the City of Angels.

"Basically, it's John Carpenter," King comments. "So you know its not going to be things as they seem. Both characters [in the book] have things about them that they don't know themselves!"

Which is where, of course, people like Father Daniel Beckett and Duran learn that's where the real trouble begins: how can you attempt to fix things when you're broken as well, and aren't certain about your own demons?

Although the softcover trade paperback has already shipped to stores, John Carpenter's Asylum Volume 1 HC (SEP141622) arrives in stores November 26th, and issue #10 (NOV141624) of the ongoing comic book is listed in the November issue of the PREVIEWS catalog. Check out the interview above where we caught up with Sandy King at the New York Comic Con, and then check out this ongoing horror series that descends into Dante's nine rings of the Inferno!
