Walter Simonson Ushers In Ragnarok

An American comic book icon, Walter Simonson has been at the front of the medium since the 1970s. He has seen it all. Now, he's ready to end it all with his Ragnarok (MAY140444) series from IDW Publishing, which we talked about at New York Comic Con.

This is a series that has been 15 years in the making since its conception. Walter constantly works, and has been working on such a hectic schedule from the moment he was introduced to the big guns at the DC office, where he first met the legendary Berni Wrightson and Carmine Infantino.

The work was actually a topic of discussion for our PREVIEWSworld interview, as Simonson explained that Manhunter and Other Stories Artist's Edition (JUN140342) was being made available by IDW Publishing, which includes a 20-page epilogue Simonson wrote after Goodwin passed away.

But it was Ragnarok that Simonson was especially jazzed to talk about, as it's his opportunity to play with heavy hitters in Norse mythology that have been around long before someone put on a cape and spandex.

"The basic idea is that — for those who don't know the Norse mythology — Ragnarok is the twilight of the gods," he explained. "The bad guys and the gods meet together. A giant battle plan. They have a big battle. Everybody kills everybody. Everybody dies. Nobody gets better. Unlike comics."

A likeable gentlemen with wit and passion, you can watch Walter Simonson talk more about his Ragnarok series by watching the above PREVIEWSworld YouTube interview!
