Insane in the Big Brain

Article Image 6dc7Matt Price is also known as Brain Boy, and if you don't know your Dell Comics history, the short story is that while in the womb his mother was in a car accident. Matt’s father was, unfortunately, killed, but his mother survived and the after-effect of her near brush with death altered Matt’s life forever. The electrical tower that caused his parents’ tragedy somehow gave Matt mental abilities that are unparalled. And, thus, Matt was given the nickname “Brain Boy.”

Of course, this flashback came to you courtesy of 1960s Dell Comics days. Now, in present day Dark Horse Comics era, we have 1 For $1 Brain Boy (OCT140058) written by Fred Van Lente, and the fear factor is a little more toxic. Back in the day, Matt was fighting against communists and assorted bad guys who wielded their own telepathic powers against America. Today, it’s unclear as to who Matt is up against, because the people who want him marginalized in present day know things that he doesn’t. And this is not good news, as Matt is used to being on top of things, and one step ahead of the competition. But now he’s learned that a psychic network has been under his radar, and that calls into question the limits of his abilities.

This is how you give a big brain a migraine.

Let him see that he doesn’t know as much as he thought he did.

The head games heat up to the boiling point in 1 For $1 Brain Boy (OCT140058), which you’ll find from Dark Horse Comics in the Premier section of the October PREVIEWS catalog!
