Corrigan's Crime Unit In Gotham By Midnight

Article Image 2ee6In the new upcoming series Gotham by Midnight, a team within the Gotham PD is given the charge to investigate strange things happening in the crime-riddled Gotham city.

So, no, this series isn't Batman. But it does feature Detective Jim Corrigan, which writer Ray Fawkes (Constantine, Batman Eternal) and artist Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night, Ten Grand) were happy to bring out on center stage.

In previous interviews, Fawkes has commented on Gotham by Midnight by offering that it “has a very gothic, melancholy feel to it.” One would hope! After all, Jim Corrigan is to the Spectre what Bruce Wayne is to The Dark Knight. Fawkes has offered a few more details which clarify the nature and tone of the series, and has revealed that his upcoming stories "will be more supernatural than horror."

In a nutshell, there are things that live in shadows which science has no prayer of classifying. Some things can't be classified. Some things are so out-of-this-world that they bring unearthly sickness which can seep into the soul and drive an entire city mad.

When confronted with situations that aren't addressed in manuals or a code of conduct, how do you fight? How do you come on top? The answers make for "a really great horror story" Fawkes has offered.

It is a challenge that Corrigan and his team — dubbed the “Midnight Shift” — will face for the good of Gotham, and this will have them face everything from ghosts, to walking corpses, to shape-shifters, to legacies of cruelty that may have tainted the city of Gotham so bad, there may be no redemption.
