July's Top 50 Comics & Graphic Novels!

Superman calls upon Batman's assistance in dealing with a techno-anarchist terrorist cell in Scott Snyder and Jim Lee's Superman Unchained #2 from DC Entertainment, the best-selling comic book in July.

In total, DC Comics had six of the month's top ten best-selling comic books. Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman #22, part of the "Zero Year" story arc, ranked #2. Justice League #22, part of "Trinity War," ranked #4. Batman Annual #2 ranked #5, Batman/Superman #2 ranked #6, and Batman/Superman #2 ranked #6.

The Guardians of the Galaxy confront Angela in Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli's Guardians of the Galaxy #5, Marvel Comics' best-selling comic for the month at #3.

Marvel Comics had three more titles in the top ten — Superior Spider-Man #13 ranked #8, Superior Spider-Man #14 ranked #9, and Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #1 ranked #10.

Robert Kirkman's zombie epic continued in The Walking Dead #112 from Image Comics, the publisher's top book for the month at #12.

Dark Horse Comics' top book in July was Brian Wood's Star Wars #7 which ranked #48 for the month.

Rounding out the premier publishers, IDW Publishing's top book for the month, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #9, ranked #66.

Clint Barton and Kate Bishop deal with the fallout from Hurricane Sandy in Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye Volume 2: Little Hits from Marvel Comics, the best-selling graphic novel in July.

In total, Marvel Comics had three titles in the top ten. In addition to Hawkeye, Black Bolt: Something Inhuman This Way Comes ranked #5 and Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.'s Kick-Ass 2 Prelude: Hit-Girl ranked #6.

Dark Horse Comics' Avatar: The Last Airbender Volume 5: The Search Part 2 ranked #2.

Image Comics had three titles in the top ten — Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples' Saga Volume 2 at #3, Saga Volume 1 at #4, and Robert Kirkman's Invincible Volume 18: The Death of Everyone at #9.

DC Comics also had three titles in the top ten — Fairest Volume 2: Hidden Kingdom ranked #7, Before Watchmen: Comedian/Rorschach ranked #8, and Before Watchmen: Nite Owl/Dr. Manhattan ranked #10.

Rounding out the premier publishers, IDW Publishing's Locke & Key Volume 5: Clockworks ranked #12.

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.

Data for Diamond’s sales charts – which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts – are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 accounts, comprised of comic book specialty shops and other merchant stores and buyers. The shops are primarily located in North America, with a percentage of sales also to international stores and buyers located throughout the world. The account base includes not only brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, but also Internet stores, chain stores, and other specialty stores.

Unit sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during any given month, minus any copies that are distributed free of cost.
