June's Top 50 Comics & Graphic Novels

The Man of Steel faces one of his greatest challenges in Scott Snyder and Jim Lee's Superman Unchained #1 from DC Entertainment, the best-selling comic book to retailers in June.

In total, DC Entertainment had four of the month's top books. Greg Pak and Jae Lee's Batman/Superman #1 ranked #2. The "Batman: Zero Year" storyline kicked off in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman #21. And in Justice League #21, the month's #6 book, the build-up to the Trinity War continued.

Marvel Comics rounded out the top ten with six titles, led by Brian Michael Bendis' Age of Ultron #10, the shocking conclusion to Marvel's spring crossover event, at #4. Age of Ultron #9, the penultimate issue of the storyline, ranked #5. Dan Slott had two issues of Superior Spider-Man in the top ten; issue #11 ranked #7 and issue #12 ranked #8. All-New X-Men #12 ranked #9. Finally, Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.'s Kick-Ass 3 #1 ranked #10.

Among the premier publishers, Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead #111 from Image Comics ranked #13 for the month.

Brian Wood and Carlos D'Anda's Star Wars #6 from Dark Horse Comics ranked #45.

Finally, based on the top-rated animated series, IDW Publishing's My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #8 ranked #66.

Rick Grimes and his group of survivors of the zombie apocalypse must deal with new dangers in Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead Volume 18: What Comes After, the latest volume of the best-selling series that inspired the AMC hit and the best-selling graphic novel to comics retailers in June.

In total, Image Comics had four of the month's top-selling graphic novels. Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples' Saga Volume 2 ranked #2, Kirkman's The Walking Dead Volume 2: Miles Behind Us ranked #6, and Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' Fatale Volume 3 ranked #7.

BOOM! Studios' Adventure Time Volume 3, collecting stories based on the fan-favorite Cartoon Network series, ranked #3.

Marvel Comics had two titles in the top ten. Star-Lord: The Hollow Crown, collecting classic tales of the Guardians of the Galaxy leader, ranked #4. Deadpool Killustrated, a series that skewered classic literature through the prism of Deadpool, ranked #5.

DC Comics rounded out the top ten with three titles. Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason's Batman and Robin Volume 1: Born to Kill ranked #8. Harley Quinn: Night and Day, collecting tales of the fan-favorite character, ranked #9. Finally, Before Watchmen: Minutemen/Silk Spectre Deluxe, collecting two of the prequel miniseries to Watchmen, ranked #10.

Among the premier publishers, Dark Horse Comics' top book for June was Star Wars: The Clone Wars – The Smuggler's Code at #15. Finally, IDW Publishing's John Byrne's Fantastic Four Artist's Edition, a deluxe presentation of some of Byrne's best artwork on Marvel Comics' first family, ranked #36 for the month.

Data for Diamond’s sales charts – which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts – are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 accounts, comprised of comic book specialty shops and other merchant stores and buyers. The shops are primarily located in North America, with a percentage of sales also to international stores and buyers located throughout the world. The account base includes not only brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, but also Internet stores, chain stores, and other specialty stores.

Unit sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during any given month, minus any copies that are distributed free of cost.
