Sneak PREVIEWS: Look What’s in January's Catalog

The January edition of Diamond Comic Distributors’ PREVIEWS catalog arrives in comic shops, hobby stores, and other direct market outlets on December 28 and features comic books, graphic novels, toys, and other pop culture merchandise scheduled to go on sale beginning March 2012.   

The front cover of this month’s catalog showcases Vertigo’ FAIREST #1, a spinoff series of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Fables ongoing series that focuses on Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Cinderalla, Snow White, and many more of the female Fables. Fan-favorite artist Phil Jimenez (Wonder Woman, The Invisibles) joins Fables creator/writer Bill Willingham for the first story arc, dealing with the misadventures of Briar Rose.  

January’s back cover is dedicated to Image Comics’ SAGA #1, a double-sized start to the new sci-fi/fantasy series from Y: The Last Man writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Fiona Staples.  The first issue features 44 pages of story, in which readers are introduced to new parents Marko and Alano, who will risk everything to protect their new baby daughter from the perils of a galactic war.

JANUARY PREVIEWS FEATURES

Free Comic Book Day: The first PREVIEWS of the new year gives those eagerly awaiting Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) 2012 a look at all of the free comic books being offered by the event’s Gold and Silver Sponsors and that will be given away for free on May 5, 2012 in participating comic shops.  Plus, check out the FCBD 2012 Commemorative T-Shirt from superstar artist and DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee (Justice League, All-Star Batman & Robin)!
 

Women in Comics Month: This month, PREVIEWS is spotlighting the strong female characters and creators that add so much to the comics community.  Look for the Women in Comics icon throughout the catalog to find titles that feature the adventures of great female characters or the works of celebrated female creators. Additionally, January’s FLIPside feature is a special, extensive interview with Womanthology’s Renae De Liz, the editor that used Kickstarter.com to organize this women creators’ anthology and raised over $100,000 for its publishing.   

PREVIEWS Exclusive Apparel: January’s line-up of PREVIEWS Exclusive apparel available only in comic book specialty shops features a variety of comic- and movie-based T-shirt designs, including Avengers Movie Bold Logo, Avengers Movie Aged S.H.I.E.L.D., V for Vendetta: “People & Government,” Star War: “SW Comic,” and Adventure Time: “Uppercut.” You won’t find these anywhere else other than a comic book or hobby shop in your area.
