In the grim cold of February surfaces a thrilling new League of Extraordinary Gentlemen book - Nemo: Heart of Ice, a full-color 48-page adventure in the classic pulp tradition by the inestimable Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill. It's 1925, fifteen long years since Janni Dakkar first tried to escape the legacy of her dying science-pirate father, only to accept her destiny as the new Nemo, captain of the legendary Nautilus. Now, tired of her unending spree of plunder and destruction, Janni launches a grand expedition to surpass her father's greatest failure: the exploration of Antarctica. Hot on her frozen trail are a trio of genius inventors, hired by the megalomaniacal Charles Foster Kane to retrieve the plundered valuables of an African queen. It's a deadly race to the bottom of the world - an uncharted land of wonder and horror where time is broken and the mountains bring madness.

*****

A few words from Kevin O'Neill about this project...

PREVIEWSworld: When you sat down to work on this project, what did you want to bring to the table? What are your thoughts on this particular LOEG project?

Kevin O'Neill: I’d like to think my experience working on British comics and my interest in Adventure comics helps me to contribute a senses of period and scale to the story.

PREVIEWSworld: Could you elaborate more on Alan's decision to change gears, and focus on Janni Dakkar for Nemo: Heart of Ice?

Kevin O'Neill: When finishing 2009, the last part of the Century trilogy, and after several epic series it would be better to have a shift of gears and do a more contained side project. We were both fascinated by Janni Dakkar who was introduced in 1910. She had the possibility of exciting stories within the world established in earlier League adventures. Working for many years on British comics, Alan and I both feel comfortable with a shorter story and how much can be expressed with brevity.
