A Fight For The Future In Marvel's Civil War II

Article Image 9225Imagine someone could precisely see the future. Crimes could be stopped before they happened. Accidents could be prevented. Tragedies could be averted. Someone with that power would change the world; if that knowledge were used the future could be made free of sorrow, pain, and adversity. Should certain knowledge of the future be used? Does anyone have that right? If you know a crime will be committed, do you have the moral right to stop it before it happens? And if the power were used, who gets to choose how it is used?

For the heroes of the Marvel Universe, these questions are no longer theoretical. An Inhuman named Ulysses develops the power of omniscient foresight, and the ramifications of this power will forever change the Marvel Universe in Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez' Civil War II!

Some will want to use this power to help others.  Others will want to prevent others from taking advantage of certain knowledge of the future.  At stake is no less than the right to shape and control the future, and long-time allies and friends will find themselves on opposite sides of the question.  When the arguments grow heated, events spiral out of control, and before long the heroes of the Marvel Universe are at war with one another, led by Iron Man on one side and Captain Marvel on the other.

Brian Michael Bendis has been at the forefront of the Marvel Universe's biggest events of the last decade, and he is joined by his Invincible Iron Man collaborator David Marquez for a story that will shape the Marvel Universe for years to come. Like the best Marvel Comics stories, ones that take real-world issues and explore them using super-heroes and their conflicts, Civil War II takes the issues of the surveillance state, profiling, extra-judicial drone attacks, and civil liberties in the age of terror and examines them through the prism of the Marvel Universe.

Civil War II will force readers to re-examine their assumptions, consider the alternatives, and choose sides as long-time friendships and established teams are torn apart by the ensuing conflict. The battle for the future begins this June in Bendis and Marquez's Civil War II, and this is one event where no one will want to be on the sidelines!

Civil War II #1 (MAR160703) is in comic shops June 1.
