James Ellroy's Whodunnit? Investigated By BOOM! Studios

Article Image 47e9One of the most notorious unsolved murders in Los Angeles' history, the brutual murder in 1947 of Elizabeth Short, nicknamed "the Black Dahlia" by the sensationalist press, was the subject of James Ellroy's true crime novel The Black Dahlia.

This summer, Ellroy, acclaimed director David Fincher (Fight Club), Matz (The Killer), and artist Miles Hyman adapt Ellroy's novel for BOOM! Studios' new graphic novel, The Black Dahlia HC (MAR161180). Careful attention was paid to Ellroy's original dialogue, which help to bring to life the the images and unique dialect that's reminiscent of life in America during the 1940s.

In this story, LAPD investigators Bucky Bleichert and Lee Blanchard find themselves immersed in a grisly murder of a beautiful woman named Elizabeth Short. Solving the murder becomes an obsession, which lead the men into Hollywood's underworld.

The deeper they dig, the more they learn that the beauty of their victim was only skin deep. Dark revelations will test their professionalism...and their sanity.
