Not Easy Being Green If You're DC's Swamp Thing
Nov 06, 2015
The art says it all if you look at what Kelly Jones whipped up for the cover of DC's Swamp Thing #1 (NOV150169). An ominous picture of blood-hued vegetation under a cancerous moon means trouble's in store for Alec Holland. One has to ask if this sets the tone for the return of Swamp Thing's co-creator Len Wein, who hasn't written adventures for the character in almost four decades. But now he's on the writing chores for the green guy, and along with illustrator Kelley Jones Swamp Thing #1 looks to be going in an insidious direction.
Dark magic is afoot, and the oncoming pain is alluded to by the cover art Jones has rendered for the book's solicitation. Alec Holland is going to have his hands full of monsters in this 6-issue mini-series, and this chapter for Swamp Thing looks to be absent of any happy ending. The Green is going to make Swamp Thing an offer, and we're going to find out once the man of muck turns away, and says "no." Supernatural fanfare mixed with what's said to be a guest appearance from Etrigan and The Phantom Stranger!
Swamp Thing #1 (NOV150169) is in comic shops January 6.
