PREVIEWS Holiday Comics Gallery
Nov 18, 2013
With December here, you can be sure that the comics will be ushering in the Holidays with covers that celebrate the season! And they’ve been doing it for decades, which means that there are a TON of Holiday-themed covers from every imaginable publisher.
So, as a Holiday treat for our readers, we scoured the archives for some familiar and obscure covers to unwrap. Heck, we even found a couple of covers that celebrate Hanukkah!
Back in the Golden Age, Christmas covers were an annual occurrence enjoyed by fans…
Throughout the years, from the ’50s and ’60s, the Holidays continued to be a yearly tradition, no matter what the actual book might be about!
In the’70s, DC and Marvel continued the tradition with special oversized Holiday specials, known as “Treasury Editions”. These were often filled with new material, as well as reprints, and kids waited every year for their release…
In the ’80s, the Holidays continued to enjoy Comic Book coverage, but things were getting a little “grim & gritty”….
…and they were also getting plenty “goofy” too!
From the ’90s to today, the tradition has continued, with a wide range of series featuring Holiday covers.
There are literally hundreds of Holiday themed comics out there, and these were but a sampling. From all of us at PREVIEWS, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hannukah!
