Corey Taylor Talks House Of Gold & Bones at SDCC

At this year’s San Diego Comic Con we finally got to meet Corey Taylor, creator and writer of Dark Horse Comics’ House of Gold & Bones, which ties into his band Stone Sour’s same-titled album from Roadrunner Records.

At the press box Dark Horse had set up at the show, we were given first crack at talking to Corey when he was done signing books for multitude of fans. Before the camera got rolling, I was shaking hands with the world-renowned artist, and quickly catching up on what he had going on before the red light was signaling it was showtime for PREVIEWSworld.

For those of you who aren’t aware of Corey Taylor’s career outside of writing House of Gold & Bones, he’s been a #1 debuting artist on Billboard Top 200, a lead vocalist performing in front of over 100,000 people with his bands Slipknot and Stone Sour, and the New York Times bestselling author of Seven Deadly Sins. His relationship with the supernatural world has also been furthered in his latest novel for publisher Da Capo Press with A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven. If you get the chance to read it, you’ll find similar ties to the Human’s metaphysical battles in House of Gold & Bones. The circle is complete. You just have to use the right Viewmaster.

Once the interview kicked off, Corey was able to put his project into perspective for those who might not understand the chemistry he made with Dark Horse. “I wrote a short story that basically kind of tied the music to the story itself. So you can read along with the story, and then listen to the music, and it kind of filled in some of the blanks. I was really lucky to be able to find a group of people that really believed in the project.”
