Top 25 Games: October 2012

Hasbro's Risk Legacy, an update of the venerable board game Risk with a gameplay mechanic that spans multiple games, returned to the top of the sales charts in October as the month's best-selling games product to comic book specialty retailers.
Wizards of the Coast launched a new expansion for Magic the Gathering in October, and four products for Return to Ravnica were among the month's top ten best-sellers. The Return to Ravnica Booster Packs ranked #2, the Return to Ravnica Fat Packs ranked #6, the Return to Ravnica Intro Decks ranked #7, and the Return to Ravnica Event Decks ranked #9.
NECA/WizKids had two products in the top ten — DC HeroClix: Batman ranked #3, and Assassin's Creed HeroClix: Brotherhood ranked #5.
Also with two products in the top ten was USAopoly; the Monopoly: Doctor Who 50th-Anniversary Edition ranked #4, and the Monopoly: Marvel Comics Collector's Edition ranked #10.
Finishing up the top ten, Konami Digital Entertainment's Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG: Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World ranked #8.

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.
Data for Diamond’s sales charts – which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts – are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 accounts, comprised of comic book specialty shops and other merchant stores and buyers. The shops are primarily located in North America, with a percentage of sales also to international stores and buyers located throughout the world. The account base includes not only brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, but also Internet stores, chain stores, and other specialty stores.
Unit and dollars sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during any given month, minus any copies that are distributed free of cost.
