Staff Picks (May): Voltron — Legendary Defender #1

It may be hard to believe, but almost 30 years have passed since Voltron, the massive mech combined by five robotic lions, aired new episodes on television. Fear not, fans, because Voltron is coming back in a big way in 2016!

The Dreamworks produced take on the character debuts on Netflix this June, and shortly after Voltron will find a new home in comics with an ongoing series from Lion Forge.

Voltron takes the best aspects of action/adventure stories and combines them with heart and character. A major emphasis on the new series is to delve deeper into the Voltron mythos, while also exploring the lives of each pilot. Head show writers Tim Hedrick and Mitch Iverson guide the story within the new comic as a one-two punch alongside the Netflix series.

With a stylized look for the 21^st century, Voltron: Legendary Defender #1 is an excellent compendium for longtime fans looking to dive into the new show, with plenty of content available for newcomers looking to learn all about the best mech around.
